Help Daisy The Burned Dog

I found this story on one of my favorite websites, Ernie's House of Whoopass. I want to thank Ernie for doing so much to get this story out, and raising money to help. He's just an exceptional person.

In the early morning hours of Friday, June 28th, the Humane Society of North Texas received a request for help from the Fort Worth Police Department.

A dog had been seen running down the street, engulfed in flames. human Society investigators arrived on the scene to find Daisy, a female 10 month old Shar Pei mix puppy, huddled in the back corner of a yard. What remained of her hair was singed and well over half of her body was covered in burns. She was immediately rushed Daisy to a 24 hour emergency clinic.

Apparently the dog had wandered into the yard of Robert Aretz Lindsay, who, after unsuccessfully trying to shoo her out, doused her in gasoline and set her on fire.

The good news is that he now faces up to 2 years in Prison.

The bad news is that Daisy is in very serious condition and her future is still uncertain.

Here's an email Ernie received from Jamey Cantrell, the operations manager for the Humane Society of North Texas:

Daisy is still in critical condition at a 24-hour emergency veterinary hospital. She is eating and drinking on her own, however there is still the possibility of renal failure and/or a lethal infection.

We are praying that she will make a full recovery, but that is not certain at this time.

There is no way for us to accurately estimate her veterinary bills at this time. She will be in the hospital for a long time, but she could also need numerous skin grafts before she is fully healed. We had a similar case in 1997 and that dog's vet bills added up to well over $8,000. I wouldn't be surprised if Daisy's bills were that much or even more. Any amount you can help us raise will be greatly appreciated.

You can refer your people to our website to get more information".

Now you know I don't do this sort of thing usually. My whole focus generally is to give you something to laugh about.

But this is just so heartbreaking that I really felt compelled to bring it to your attention.

And it's not just sad for Daisy. It's heartbreaking for all of us. It means that as much as we've evolved and as enlightened as we've become, there are still people in this world who inflict cruelty on loyal animals who want nothing more than to please us. And that should make us all really disappointed.

So I'm hoping to see a spectacular show of goodness, because it will take that to balance out such a horrible, senseless act of cruelty.

I am personally asking each and every one of you make a donation to the Humane Society of North Texas to help pay for the cost of Daisy's care.

You can donate something, anything at all, right now by using this Paypal link.

If you do make a donation to Daisy, please email me and let me know. I want to keep a tally and send it to Ernie, so he can see the ripple effect his good deed has created.

Thanks for reading this and helping out.

We now return to the high quality comedy I'm famous for.
