Roger's Track O' The Week

Roger is so good. He sends me tracks faithfully, every week. And what do I do? I go to Vegas. I lose my internet connection. I sit in the living room watching Quincy until my head throbs. But I don't post the damn tracks. And it's a shame, because they're simply life-changing.

The other day I came across a recording artist (and I don't mean it that way so just stop it) by the name of Glenda.

When I heard her perform this startling rendition of "Playboy Magazine", I was transported to a simpler place and time. Not because of the quality of the singing, lyrics or music (or the total lack thereof), but because of the title. You see, I was actually in the pages of Playboy Magazine. Sure it was 20 years ago, but still.

I was starring in a Shakespearean Revue in the sleepy little hamlet of Ramona, California. I was starring opposite a Playmate from the previous year. Miss April (who else?) 1982, Linda Rhys Vaughn.

That's me with Miss April '82 on page 188 of the January 1983 issue, just below Pat Nagel and Louis Nye.

Here she is showing a little less costume and a little more talent.

After that she got married and moved to a ranch somewhere (Montana, I think). Someone got the bright idea to make a TV movie based on her story called "I Married A Centerfold". I've never seen it but I think it's available on video. Check IMDB.

But enough about me. Let's all enjoy a few minutes with Glenda and find out how she wants you to enjoy her in the pages of Playboy Magazine. If only we could. Because then you wouldn't be able to hear her singing at all.
