This promises to be an interesting show. No, really. Not like all the other times I said it would be interesting and I blatantly lied. And I'll tell you why.

Last week was Mr. K's Valentine's show. I was supposed to be on, but I had an actual date, and I just couldn't justify passing on that so I could sit with Mr. K and talk abour his breath for three hours.

Instead, I had a stunning Valentine's Day, complete with a gift from my boyfriend that was so spectacular I get misty just thinking about it. Not only will I share the details of that experience, but there is a possibility – a possibility – that I will be bringing my man with me to the studio to answer all your questions. It's true. He would take calls and tell you extremely embarassing details that you really shouldn't know.

Foolhardy, wouldn't you say? I already regret it. I'm just praying that he has to work or he forgets the whole thing.

Linkapalooza

All right. Let's have a little chat about the Linkapalooza page.

When I first put up the Linkapalooza page, I envisioned it as sort of a bulletin board where people could put up interesting links for the amusement of the general population. Knowing what smart and funny people come here, I thought that could be a wealth of entertainment, which it has mostly proven to be. In fact, I originally created it with no option for me to delete or edit links. I just left it to you. In fact, I never even visited the page.

However, I soon started getting emails from people complaining about porn links, or tasteless sites that they found offensive.

Here's the thing.

Porn does not generally offend me. In fact, I find it to be quite helpful in certain circumstances. And I certainly have no place dictating what's tasteful. I think that's pretty obvious by now. Moreover, I'm not crazy about censorship. I think it's dangerous.

So the way I handled this was to tell people that they had complete control over Linkapalooza. It only shows 50 links at a time, so by adding "good" links, the "bad" links get flushed out.

This worked for a while. But then something else started happening.

Some assbag started spamming the board with links to his site. Over and over again. This pissed people off, so they posted retaliatory links. The page basically became a pissing contest, and I eventually had to step in.

I didn't want to, believe me. I barely have enough time to update at all, much less police the boards to keep some egomanical ass clown from polluting the page with endless links to his crappy site.

So now I have to monitor the page for this kind of shit. That just disappoints me no end. And it really goes against everything I believe in. But I refuse to buy bandwith for spammers.
