What's My Line?
If you missed "What's My Line" at The Acme Comedy Theatre last night . . .well, you have no one to blame but yourself.
Dear sweet Jesus, that was a good show last night. I mean really good. We had an old guy who opened champagne bottles with a sword, a man who played the Star Trek theme on a Theremin and Jane Lockhart from Sweet Lady Jane Bakery on Melrose.
That is the bakery all time, let me tell you. And Jane brought a serious chocolate cake for felow panelist J.P. Manoux, who was having a birthday. It was all like some glamorous Hollywood dream, until Jane accidentally dumped an entire glass of champagne on my dress. I smelled like Liza all night.
Then came the Mystery Guest. We all put on our blindfolds (the women's have pearls on them), and we had 10 chances to guess their identity.
We established that it was a man, best known for a prme time network one-hour drama series, still in production. The show was not about crime, police or lawyers.
Then J.P. Manoux asked if the guest had recently left the show. When he admitted that he had, J.P. figured out that our mystery guest was this man! And the crowd went wild!
It's a great show, and I love doing it. We got a little write up in L.A. Weekly today, which was very cool. Do yourself a huge favor, and come to one of these shows. I'll be on the panel every Wednesday in June, and there are a lot of cool people coming up, llike Mink Stole and Greg Proops.
Speaking of Liza, did you ever see a web cartoon called Queer Duck? Well apparently they're making a Queer Duck movie, and I just auditioned for it. I really would love to get that. The parts of the script I saw were brutally funny .
If you happen to know anyone who is working on that film, please give them $5 and say it's from me. I'm good for it.
SWM iso . . . WTF?
So, have you seen this ad on Craig's List?
Longtime ex-listener Andrea brought this ad to my attention today, and I couldn't believe it. The poster is apparently "in or around the U.K." which I thought was pretty fascinating. Who thought KABC had such a strong signal?
I actually sent him an email, but he never wrote back. Of course, he did say his first choice was a look alike. Maybe if all the other ones don't pan out, he can "hit me back", as the kids say.
New Multimedia
The newly uploaded Teen Spirit Covers are now available for your dancing pleasure. Look for them in the Multimedia section.
Thanks to all who sent me files, or pointed me in the right direction. This kind of mediocrity could not thrive without your participation.
