Star Sighting

The good news is, I had two star sightings today. Two! In one day!

The bad news is, they were both pretty big stars, which made it a little less satisfying.

Spotting actual, vaild celebrities doesn't thrill me so much. I tend to really get excited about seeing has-beens desperately trying to draw attention to themselves, or low-wattage luminaries in the middle of something incredibly mundane.

For me, a really exemplary star sighting would be Suzanne Pleshette arguing with the dry cleaner about a spaghetti stain on Tom Poston's shirt. That would be pretty good. Or maybe Susan Dey looking for change for the meter. Either one.

But instead, I saw Rob Reiner at L.A. Studios, where I was doing voices for Mickey's Clubhouse. I wanted to talk to him, but then I realized I had absolutely nothing to say, and it would be almost as awkward as the time I struck up a conversation with Norm MacDonald.

Later, when I got home and was walking through the 3rd Street Promenade, I almost bumped into Jamie Lee Curtis, coming around the corner onto Broadway. It was much harder not to talk to her.

I wanted to tell her that both her husband (Christopher Guest) and I were on Los Angeles Magazine's list of 25 Funniest People last month, and that he really should put me in a film shouldn't he? Because I loved "Waiting for Guffman", and how weird, I just saw Rob Reiner, who was in "Spinal Tap" with her husband, and isn't that a sign of some kind? And hey, my dad was famous, too. Funny story, Jamie; a few years ago, when I was driving to Juniors Deli on Westwood Boulevard, I was making a right without looking and almost hit Tony Curtis with my car. Heh.

Ok, did you notice how painful that was to read? Now imagine me screaming it at Jamie Lee Curtis while she's running to her car to get away from me.

On the Radio

I'll be on live with Mr. KABC tomorrow night, from 9:00 PM to midnight. Tune to KABC AM 790, or listen to live streaming here.

Oh, it will be too much entertainment, I'm telling you that right now. You might want to take a little disco nap around 6:00, just to prepare.

I have so much to share tomorrow night, that you might actually mistake my ramblings for content.

I'll be talking about Oprah's new DVD, a truly misguided venture that Dr. Laura is embarking on, and the hell of buying a sofa at one of the worst furniture store in Los Angeles.

And if that's not enough for you people (and it never is), we'll be playing What's My Line with an in-studio Mystery Guest that Mr. KABC is already gloating about.

As always, I have no idea who it is. But I'm silently praying it's this man.

We can dream, can't we?
