It’s just a beautiful day in my hood today. The sun is shining, and all the freaks are out.
I had brunch with my best friend Roy at The Viceroy, which is a big hipster hotel in Santa Monica. It's all very modern and fabulous, and the people there seem to think they are too.
Here's a little trendwatching for you. There are a lot of afros out in the world all of a sudden. Have you noticed that? A lot of grass roots afro styling out there. Very Pam Grier, very Cleopatra Jones. So watch for that, because afros are the new irony.
But that's not the point. The point is that Roy and I have discussed our podcast, and it is, as the youngsters like to say, "on".
We decided to record our first show right after Mother's Day, so we should have something up that week.
We'll probably just offer them as MP3s at first, though we might make enhanced podcasts for iTunes. We'll figure it out as we go along.
I think this is going to be great. I love Roy. We have great chemistry. He's been my best friend since junior high, and we have the same unpleasant sense of humor. We hate almost all the same things, as well as most people. And, most importantly, we can use profanity.
And we will.
