Chances are, if you read my blog on MySpace, you already know Auntie Vera Charles.
Auntie Vera is the pseudonym of a very talented and very accomplished voice actor. I didn’t realize it when we first started communicating on MySpace, but he was actually an acquaintance of mine in the real world. We’ve both made our living doing voice overs for a number of years, and our paths have crossed many times.
Since discovering his true identity, Auntie Vera and I have become friends. In fact, John and I have enjoyed a few drunken evenings with Auntie Vera and his beloved Gooch, and it’s all turned into kind of a mutual, slobbering admiration society. It’s something I’m very grateful for.
A few weeks ago, when I was doing Pinata at Bang Comedy Theatre, Auntie Vera and Gooch came down to see me, and the four of us went to Canter’s Deli afterward. While we were there, I was struck with an idea for a podcast Vera and I could do together.
It’s an odd premise for a podcast, and not something I’ve heard anyone do before. I explain the concept in the introduction, so you can understand exactly how it was accomplished.
It was a great deal of fun to do. I just finished it a few minutes ago, and I’m uploading it for you now. I’m hoping it will be the first in a series.
It’s only about 10 or 15 minutes, so give it a listen!
