The problem with animated banner ads

By now you’ve probably seen this banner ad for Petmeds.com.

See the little dog biscuit in the corner? The one that says, “Click Here”?

Well, the code in this ad links the action of that biscuit to the action of your cursor. So whenever you move your mouse, the biscuit moves too.

Cute!

And to make it even more adorable, the pug’s eyes follow the biscuit!

Of course, I didn’t quite get that right away, because when the page opened with this ad on top, my cursor happened to be underneath it.

Nice, right?

I’m wondering if Petmeds sells alternative medicines.
