We, The Podcast

February 18th, 2008 · 19 Comments

You are being summoned to listen to another podcast with me and Marc Germain.

Don’t think of it as 46 minutes wasted. I mean, it is, but don’t think of it that way. Think of it as your civic duty. That should take the sting out of it.

I realize it’s an inconvenience, but it’s part of what makes this such a great country. Ordinary people, just like you, chosen to sit through close to an hour of pure drivel. You don’t get this kind of freedom in those Godless countries, I can tell you that.

Todays’ session includes thoughts on jury duty, dead celebrities, reformed ex-cons and the movie star who saved Marc’s brother’s life by fishing him out of Judge Wapner’s swimming pool. Or something like that. I wasn’t really paying attention, to be honest. My mind tends to wander when Marc talks.

The important thing is, you have been called upon to serve. So do as Judge Judy suggests and “put on your listening ears.” It’s the least you can do for your country.

And unless you have a really good excuse, you can’t get out of it.

    Approximately third!

You found good movers? I’d highly recommend looking into cloning those guys. The whimpers of a grateful humanity will resonate around the world.

Still remember how bitter I was when I was jobless & got disqualified for jury duty – they don’t (or didn’t) take unemployed folks here for that. Guess I didn’t meet their “inconvenience” quota, what with having the free time. That 12 bucks a day would’ve been some sweet green, too.

Ooh, floaters versus sinkers! About TIME you included some of that highbrow content! Have THAT as a regular feature, & you can totally snag an oatmeal sponsorship. Now you just need to get William F. Buckley & Noam Chomsky on to take sides, & you’re rockin’ like a hurricane.

in torrance court you only have to go in one day. Half a day if you mention you grew up next door to david fukuto and used to cheat him while playing stratego and probably are a major factor in his becoming a cop killer. whatever you do, if a local paper like ‘the daily breeze calls at 10pm and asks you what can you say about the kid who grew up next to you, don’t respond with ‘what did that little shit do now’ at least until his name gets released by the press the next day. not the most informative story, but my favorite since it is written by someone whos is insane.

I heard Mister K say the S word. He’s done for broadcast radio. He’ll never have a microphone in this town again.

I liked the visual aids when April did the filmstrip tone and you could click on a picture. Why did she stop doing that?

I can’t wait to hear about her trip to jury duty.

They announced the newest cast of “Dancing with the marginally famous”… Penn (no Teller)…Pricilla Pressley…Steve “Cocoon” Guttenberg…..

Now the only thing missing is CHARO!

For the love of God, what are you going to do next?

  • 10 JohnnyBoy // Feb 19, 2008 at 12:44 pm

Anything, as long as people give him money

  • 11 pal Jacky // Feb 19, 2008 at 3:05 pm

you left out the best on dancing with the stars, marlee matlin a deaf mute There is also the slighty retarded shannon elizabeth. Though I’m looking foward to the constantly constipated penn gillette and steve guttenberg. the proper form of address for the latter is ’steve’police academy’ guttenberg’ until my screenplay ‘throw steve guttenberg from a train’ gets produced.

speaking of penn, the history channel has lewis black hosting ‘the history of the joke’ running this week. It isn’t so bad except when Penn and kathy Griffin are on camera. They even give robin williams far too much camera time, but it is better the pseudoskeptic and the mythical beast. god that griffin is a vain sack of crap.

I think we have to applaud anything that Damian Hirst does that doesn’t involve entrails. For him, that’s progress.

I miss the film strip stuff too! It made me giggle and all warm inside. Please, April, may we have some more?

  • 15 JohnnyBoy // Feb 19, 2008 at 6:07 pm

Yea, palJacky, I saw “The History of the Joke” last night.

It totally WASN’T a history of the joke, though, more of an analysis of the joke. Two hours, so an hour too long. Carlin was good.

JohnFoley, I agree…as long as I only applaud and not have to purchase

Newbie here. Thoroughly enjoying the podcasts. Reminds me of my jury duty experience back in the 1980’s. I was picked for a civil case (My husband said I wouldn’t be picked for anything because he thinks I’m too wishy-washy.) The person was suing a chemical company for 3rd degree burns that he received because the cans the chemicals came in weren’t labeled properly. We had 2 days of trial, learned all about 1st, 2nd, and 3rd degree burns, and they settled out of court. About a year later I was watching Judge Wapner and this same guy was suing someone else for the same thing! Apparently (and this is just a guess on my part) he bought a bunch of flammable chemicals all on the same day from different sources and was making a career out of going to small claims and civil court using the same scars/injuries.
I’m just mad I didn’t think of that!
Now, I must return to my occupation as a stay-at-home cat entertainer.
