I have no idea where he or she found it. I don’t even have this one.

I remember this like it was yesterday.

This is from a show my dad and mom created together. The premise was simple: dad used ventriloquism to torture and confuse small children who didn’t know they were being filmed – like a Candid Camera for kids (so much like it in fact, that he was eventually sued and forced to stop production).

When these scenes were filmed, I had already been on the show for a year, and I knew the drill. I knew when it was my dad talking, and I knew not to let on. In fact, my mother tells a story about shooting a segment with a little boy who started crying uncontrollably. Apparently, I walked right up to him, put my hands on my hips and said, “Jesus Christ, you’re going to ruin the whole bit!”

I was also not supposed to tell anyone that Paul Winchell was my father (I guess I was sort of working as a mole). That’s why I’m so hesitant about identifying myself in the beginning of the clip.

ALittleWinchellDoYa has threatened to post more of these clips in the future, so we’ll just have to see what he or she has up his or her sleeve.

UPDATE: ALittleWinchellDoYa has informed me that this clip comes from a compilation DVD entitled “Paul Winchell & Jerry Mahoney TV Rarities, Volume 2″. The DVD can be found on the KineVideo web site, which is run by Bruce Simon.

I met Bruce through eBay a few years ago, and he was a very decent and good hearted guy. He has been rescuing Kinescopes and converting them for years, and is largely responsible for video like this even existing. Go take a look at his site and be amazed by his amazing collection.
